Kintsugi

seeing the story in broken pieces

We all live with our own stories behind us.

Each story is unique in its own way, and because of that, it is beautiful.

Crockeries can be unique too.

The chipped coffee cup, halved meat dish, salad bowl which has lost its broken parts….

All of these crockeries can be made into one-of-a-kind item, which engraves some moments of our lives.

In Japan, in the 15th century, some craftsmen began jointing broken tea cups using lacquer and gold, and that method was called ‘Kintsugi’.

Instead of hiding the marks of the breakage, ‘kintsugi’ emphasises it by using the precious gold(or silver).
